¡¥Au!¡¦ A puppy barked near me when I was going home along the busy streets. It was in a cardboard box. It had brown hair and its leg was wounded. It looked very poor. I took it home.

When my mother saw it, she scolded me,

¡¥Where did you get it? Take it away!¡¦

¡¥But it¡¦s very miserable!¡¦

I tried to explain but she interrupted me,

¡¥That¡¦s enough!¡¦

My mother did not let me keep it. I took it to the garden near my home. There was a cave. I called it my ¡¥secret base¡¦. Nobody could find it except me.

Everyday when I went to school in the morning, I brought the dog some bread and water. After school, I visited it. My mother did not know.

Two months passed. One day when I was at school, I heard my puppy bark near the windows. All my classmates looked outside. I thought it must remember my aura. My Chinese teacher walked into the classroom, saw it and asked,

¡¥Whose puppy is it?¡¦

¡¥It¡¦s mine¡¦, I replied.

After class, I told him the whole thing. He didn¡¦t blame me. On the contrary, he was willing to keep it. He said if I had time, I could go to his home to visit it. I couldn¡¦t believe my ears. I was very happy.

Since then, I visit it every week.

Once upon a time, there was a farmer who lived in the Happy Village with his wife. They worked hard in the garden. They grew flowers.

One day a strange thing happened when the farmer was working in the garden. ¡¥Sob¡Ksob¡K¡¦ The farmer heard the noise from behind the grass. ¡¥What noise is that?¡¦ He thought and followed the sound. It grew louder and louder.

¡¥Ah! Here¡¦s a baby!¡¦ He shouted when he discovered the baby. ¡¥Wife! Come here! Here¡¦s a baby!¡¦ He called to his wife.

¡¥Oh! How lovely he is! But¡Kbut¡KWhy is he here?¡¦ the wife asked.

¡¥Maybe it¡¦s God sending us a present!¡¦ He was very happy and brought the boy up.

They gave this boy a name, Raymond. The people who lived in the village were very kind to him and liked him very much, because Raymond always helped others. But one day something horrible happened¡K

        ¡¥Husband¡KWhere¡¦s Raymond? I can¡¦t find him¡¦ The wife cried.

¡¥I can¡¦t find him either. Why did he become so rebellious? Do you think he went out with his bad friends?¡¦ The farmer was worried.

¡¥Yes. I always tell him to leave the bad friends, but he doesn¡¦t listen to me¡¦ She was sad.

Suddenly their neighbor came and said,

¡¥Oh! My God! I saw your son stealing and he was caught by the police. Go to the police and see what happened. Quick!¡¦

They ran to the police station.

¡¥Raymond, Raymond. Why did you steal?¡¦ They cried.

¡¥I¡¦m sorry. Dad, Mum. Please forgive me. If I didn¡¦t do that, they would beat me! I was frightened and they said if I didn¡¦t help them, they would set our garden on fire. Mum¡KPlease forgive me!¡¦ he cried loudly.

¡¥Oh! My good boy. Don¡¦t worry. We¡¦ll help you and forgive you. Don¡¦t cry!¡¦

Later, the police released Raymond because he was not old enough to go to  prison.

Raymond felt sorry and asked again, ¡¥Mum¡KDad¡KWill you forgive me?¡¦

¡¥Yes. Don¡¦t worry. In our heart, you¡¦re always a good boy. But remember, don¡¦t do that again,¡¦ his mum said.

        ¡¥Ok! I promise you I won¡¦t do that again. I¡¦ll be a good son,¡¦ Raymond said.

After that, Raymond behaved very well and they lived very happily in the Happy Village.

Many years ago, there was a witch family called Marae. In the family there was a girl called Rosemary. She loved music and she was very beautiful. She liked to go on the street by herself. She had an elder brother and sister.

One day, when Rosemary was walking along the streets, she heard someone playing the violin. She listened carefully. Then she realized the music was coming from the squatter¡¦s hut. She could see a boy was playing violin inside.

¡¥Hey! How can you play the violin so gracefully?¡¦ Rosemary asked.

¡¥Who are you?¡¦ asked the boy.

    ¡¥My name is Rosemary Marae¡¦

¡¥You are come from the Marae?¡¦ he was surprised.

      ¡¥Yes. What about you?¡¦

¡¥My name is Vincent. Vincent Vicary¡¦

      ¡¥May I come in?¡¦

They had a long talk. They promised to met every day and play the flute and violin together. Vincent loved Rosemary very much. Once he asked Rosemary,

¡¥I think I love you. Do you love me?¡¦

Rosemary was very surprised. She thought for a moment,

¡¥I think I love you too¡¦

They treasured the time when they were together. One day Rosemary¡¦s father dogged her and found that his daughter was meeting a poor boy everyday. He was very angry. When she got home, her father shouted at her.

¡¥Where have you been?¡¦

¡¥I was looking of the new clothes¡¦

¡¥NO! You met the poor boy!¡¦

       ¡¥Why can¡¦t I?¡¦

¡¥Of course you can¡¦t. You have to marry the prince!¡¦

       ¡¥No. I can¡¦t. I love him very much! We¡¦ve fallen in love!¡¦

¡¥You have no choice!¡¦

       ¡¥Why? Although I am a girl, I should have my choice!¡¦

¡¥You have no choice not because you¡¦re a girl, but because you¡¦re born in this family, the Marae family!¡¦

She did not speak any more. After the conversation she did not meet Vincent ever again. She married the prince and fell ill for no reason. Two years later she died from brain cancer. After that Vincent became a madman, and one day he crashed himself onto the wall and died too.

However, their hearts were not dead.
