Science in Action: Experiential Learning Activities on Testing and Certification Industry for Secondary Students (2024/25)
“Science in Action: Experiential Learning Activities on Testing and Certification Industry for Secondary Students (2024/25)” is jointly organized by the Education Bureau (EDB), The Industry Training Advisory Committee for Testing and Certification Industry under Hong Kong Qualifications Framework (HKQF) and Hong Kong Council for Testing and Certification (HKCTC). On June 25, 2025, our F5X3 Chemistry students participated in this Workshop focused on Testing and Certification.
The workshop aimed to enhance students' understanding of the testing and certification industry. Students participated in hands-on experiences related to pharmaceuticals and nutritional supplements. They used inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) to determine the zinc content in a supplement tablet and spectrophotometry to measure the mass of aspirin in a painkiller tablet.
From August 15 to 17, we the Wong Siu Ching Nursing Cadet Division and the Wong Siu Ching Ambulance Cadet Division proudly came together to host a joint summer camp at Cheung Chau. After years of pandemic restrictions, this eagerly anticipated event finally returned, filling the campsite with excitement, energy, and joy. For many members, it was their first experience of a full camp since COVID-19, making the occasion even more meaningful.
During the three memorable days, cadets engaged in various activities, from refreshing water games to disciplined foot drill training and a first-aid competition. Laughter, cheers, and determination filled every corner as members worked together, encouraged one another, and built lasting friendships. These shared experiences not only brought joy but also strengthened discipline, confidence, and teamwork.
The camp also highlighted the strong bond between the two divisions. By facing challenges together and celebrating every small victory, cadets learned the value of unity and took pride in wearing the St. John uniform.
Most importantly, this summer camp marked a fresh and enthusiastic restart, symbolizing the resilience and dedication of both divisions. More than just a joyful gathering, it became the starting point for our journey toward the upcoming Divisional Competition in October.
